How to disable Facebook Timeline and get the old profile back

Editors' note (December 19, 2011): This method for removing Timeline only applied to those who enabled it before its public release. Now that it's being rolled out to everyone, there is no way to remove Timeline and revert back to the old profile.
When Facebook Timeline was announced, it didn't take long for the Internet to figure out that even though the new profile design isn't yet available to the public, anyone could get it immediately with this little hack.
Today, over 1.5 million users have activated Timeline with this workaround, making the new profile visible to each of them and anyone else who has enabled it.
Eventually, Facebook will mandate Timeline for everyone, and when that happens, expect a lot of backlash. Many people, even those who opted in to the new design, seriously dislike it. They're calling it narcissistic, cluttered, and creepy.
If you concur, and you were one of those people who enabled Timeline, there's still a way to enjoy the old profile design (while it lasts.)
Step 1: Head to the Facebook Developers page where you originally created an app to enable Timeline. Click "Edit app."

Step 2: The only way to remove Timeline is to delete the app. If you are an actual developer, you're out of luck. Otherwise, click "Delete app" in the left sidebar.

Once you confirm the app deletion, your Facebook Timeline will be disabled.

How To Hide Facebook Timeline For Yourself

Earlier this week, Facebook rolled out its new Timeline feature to all 800 million users on its network. Although the new profile layout offers new and interesting features, some users on Facebook are finding it too complicated and cluttered with the advertisements and news ticker on the right hand side. Annoyed users are dreadfully finding ways to disable and get rid of the Timeline feature.
Facebook released a Developer application through which you could enable the Timeline and test it. Users also had an option to downgrade to the old profile by simply deleting the app from the Developer settings page.
Now that the Timeline has been released for all users, Facebook stated that it will go live automatically after seven days, no matter if you like it or not. Timeline is here to stay, at least for the next few months. Unfortunately, there is no way you can disable it.

A spokesperson for Facebook explains -
Once you click Get Timeline, you will have seven days to review everything that appears on your timeline before anyone else can see it.
If you choose, you can publish your timeline right away. If you decide to wait, your timeline will go live automatically after seven days. Your timeline will replace your profile.
Eventually everyone on Facebook will be rolled over to timeline.
You have no choice, but are forced to get used to the new profile layout. When Facebook released its new Facebook News Feed and Live Ticker, everyone hated it. Users had no choice, but to accept it. Few users also announced that they would delete their Facebook account and switch over to Google Plus. However, that never happened. I see the same set of users now likingthe Timeline. Such straightforward statements don’t bother Facebook, since they know that people will eventually get used to it.
If you’re finding the new layout too cluttered, then you can try disabling the ticker and chat. We had posted an article earlier on how you can disable the news ticker on the right.
We have posted an in-depth guide about Timeline. I recommended you to go through it and know all of its features. Who knows, you may start loving it.

Hundreds of people get knocked back onto mattresses in New Orleans as they seek to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people taking part in human dominoes.

One after the other, 850 participants were pushed backwards to land on their mattresses, in the meantime knocking the next person down in traditional domino fashion.

Eight hundred and fifty fluro-clad Americans have set a new world record for the longest human mattress domino chain.

Hundreds of mattresses were meticulously aligned in a bid to beat the previous record set by 550 people in Kortemark, Belgium last year, according to Guinness World Records.

It took several minutes for participants to topple their way into the record books on Tuesday 28 February.

A Guinness representative was on-site to judge the event and present the World Record certificate.

The stunt was held inside a massive convention centre in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was organised by a hotel chain.

Each of the 850 'dominoes' were employees of the hotel firm, while the mattresses were provided by a bedding company, and later donated to local charities.

The record for the longest human domino line, without mattresses, was recorded at the Ordos International Nadam Fair in China, and included a whopping 10,267 people.

Dhaka Gladiators makes it into the BPL finals

Mashrafe Mortaza’s Dhaka Gladiators have entered the finals of the first edition of BPL after beating Shakib-Al-Hasan’s Khulna Royal Bengals by 9 runs. Gladiators won the toss and chose to bat first in the second semi-final. Dhaka had the added services
of Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and Awais Zia up their sleeves while Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan was dropped from the playing XI.
Khulna had Mohammad Hafeez and Hammad Azam added to their ranks at the expense of Sanath Jayasuria and Nial O’Briren.
Imran Nazir and Awais Zia opened the innings for Dhaka and added 21 for the first wicket before Zia looped a catch to Nazmul Hossain for 5. Nazimuddin got himself run out for 1 with Dhaka reeling at 22-2. Birthday Boy, Azhar Mahmood, added 41 for the third
wicket with Nazir before Nazir was caught by Herschelle Gibbs off Hafeez. He made 41. Mahmood and Muhammad Ashraful added 72 for the fourth wicket before MAhmood was caught by Gibbs for 65 off Azam.
Afridi and Ashraful took the score up to 191/4 with Boom Boom finishing not out for 27 off 11 balls and Ashraful with 47 off 33. Hafeez, Azam and Shakib picked up a wicket each.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Gibbs started the innings for Khulna but lost Gibbs with the score at 5. Hafeez and Chanderpaul added 48 for the second wicket before the Paki was run out for 24. Dwayne Smith committed suicide and looped a catch at long-on before
Chanderpaul followed his West Indian partner for 25.
With Khuklna reduced to 55-4, it seemed a walk-in-the-park for the Gladiators but Nasir Hossain and Shakib kept up with the rate. Nasir made 35 before scooping a catch at long-on towards Ashraful. Shakib stayed there till the very end and managed 86 not
out from 41 balls but failed to take his team over the line. Khulna eventually finished with 182/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Elias Sunny picked up three wickets while Afridi, Ajmal and Mortaza picked up a wicket each. Azhar Mahmood was declared Man of the Match. Gladiators will take on the Barisal Burners in the final on Wednesday, February 29, in Dhaka.

Chittagong Kings take BPL to court

Barely five hours to the final, Bangladesh Premier League franchise Chittagong Kings on Wednesday challenged in court the BPL governing body's 'dramatic decision' to deny the Kings from appearing in the semi-finals.

The CEO of the Kings, Samir Quader Chowdhury, filed a petition around 1:30pm at the High Court bench of Mirza Hossain Haider and Khurshid Alam Sarker.
.

The Kings alleged that the BPL governing body had unlawfully dropped them off the semi-finals, paving way for the Barisal Burners.

But lawyers said the ruling would not disrupt Wednesday's final where the Barisal Burners will take on the Dhaka Gladiators at 6pm.

Meanwhile, the judges summoned BPL governing body chairman Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu and six others to explain their position on Mar 15.

The BPL authorities had initially declared that Chittagong Kings would go to the semifinals as the fourth-best team ahead of the Burners on the basis of the head-to-head results.

But after a meeting with the technical committee at 2am on Tuesday, the governing body reversed the decision and said the Barisal Burners will instead play the first semi-final.

The owner of the Kings was unhappy with the decision and threatened to move to court.

The drama began to unfold on Monday afternoon when BPL governing body chief Lipu announced that Barisal Burners were left out following the head-to-head results and Chittagong were in the semi-finals, apparently on the basis of a better head-to-head record in the three-way tie on 10 points, which included Dhaka.

But the BPL statement in the wee hours of Tuesday said that Barisal would be the fourth semi-finalists – understandably because their head-to-head record with Chittagong was tied and they had a better net run rate

HC rejects BPL final match stay plea

HC rejects BPL final match stay plea

The High Court rejected the writ petition hours after it was filed on Wednesday seeking a stay order on holding the final match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) tournament.
The HC turned down the petition as a civil case involving the matter remains pending with a Dhaka court.

During the hearing of the petition, the HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim said the petition is not acceptable as it was filed against a private company.
Samir Quader Chowdhury, CEO of Chittagong Kings and owner of the team, filed the writ petition on Wednesday just hours before the final match is set to begin in Dhaka.
Chittagong Kings, a team of the BPL tournament, filed the case with a Dhaka court on Wednesday as the BPL authorities in the wee hours on Tuesday taking a U-turn decided to allow Barisal Burners to play in the semifinal match.
Earlier on Monday, the BPL authorities had announced Chittagong Kings as the fourth-qualified semifinalist.
In response to the case, Judge Md Shawkat Hossain of the First Assistant Judge's Court on Wednesday summoned seven officials of the BPL on March 15 to explain their role in allowing Barisal Burners to play against Duronto Rajshahi in the first semifinals.
After filing of the writ petition on Wednesday, the HC bench of Justice Mirza Hossain Haider and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar had felt embarrassed and refused to accept the petition for hearing.
Later, another HC bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim held the hearing on the petition.
In the writ petition, Samir sought directive from the HC upon the BPL authorities to cancel the first semifinal match held between Barisal Burners and Duronto Rajshahi on Tuesday and appealed for holding a fresh semifinal match.
The petitioner also prayed to the court to issue a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain why the exclusion of Chittagong Kings from the list of semifinalist and providing Barisal Burners the opportunity to play the match should not be declared illegal.
The petitioner also sought the court directive for an explanation from the authorities concerned why Chittagong Kings should not be declared valid as semifinalist.
